It is kind of cool but to me it still feels wasteful. I assume it navigates the various Light Rail lines and joins "trains" of other cars switching at various points in the system to get where it was asked to go. The goal looks like eliminating the need for passengers to exit the car and switch themselves.
It seems like a solution to a problem we don't actually have. It also looks like it depends on a system that I would love to have, a good connected network of light rail.
